Pictures of Housing

This is a view of the front of the dormitory.
And if you turn around, this is the view from the front door. What you see are cherry trees along a canal. Very peaceful!
This is a view of the shoe closets in the entrance (genkan) where you leave your shoes when entering.
And here is a view of the hall with the very old-fashioned Japanese stairs: very steep!
Here is a view of one of the common rooms -- a place for students to hang out together.
And here is a shot of one of the 2 kitchens.
Toilets are shared, but each stall is like its own room. Japanese do not like the American style of toilet stalls! Privacy in the toilet is cherished... none of those stalls where the bottom and top are open.
This is a view of one of the shared sinks. Here is where students will brush their teeth, wash their faces, put on makeup, etc.
This is the area where students will do their laundry. There are several shared washing machines.
The Japanese rarely use dryers for their clothes. The students will follow this lifestyle and will hang their clothes in the garden. Of course, intimate apparel will be hung in the rooms.
This is the shower room. Each shower stall has a curtained area outside for more privacy.
Here is a view of one of the rooms. Small, but very private and very Japanese! Note the shoji instead of curtains. Very cool!
