Ground Transportation to Innsbruck If you are not flying directly into Innsbruck then you will need to arrange ground transportation. You can get to Innsbruck by: shuttle, train, bus and car. SHUTTLE TRANSPORTATION If you are flying into Munich then we recommend that you take a shuttle to Innsbruck. TRAIN TRANSPORTATION If you are not able to take a shuttle to Innsbruck from the Munich airport then you should consider taking a train. You will have to take a commuter train (S-Bahn) to the main train station which is located about 20 kilometers from the Munich airport at a cost of about €8. The S-Bahn will run usually every 30 minutes from the airport to Munich train station. Once you arrive at the Munich train station you will need to find a train to Innsbruck. Usually, there is a train to Innsbruck every 1 to 2 hours at a cost of about €25 to €35 for a one way ticket. The Innsbruck train station is a little too far to walk with 6 weeks of luggage so you will want to take a taxi to the student dormitory at a cost of about €6.50. BUS TRANSPORTATION An alternate choice is to take a bus to Innsbruck in much the same way you can take a Greyhound™ from Atlanta to New Orleans. This is not the best method of transportation or recommend by the Division of International Education at UNO. But if you would like to take a bus you can find the depot located near the main train station in Munich. The cost for taking a bus to Innsbruck is about €15 - €25. They may charge extra if you have a lot of luggage. CAR TRANSPORTATION We DO NOT recommend renting a car at all in Europe. It can be extremely dangerous driving in Europe. Traffic signals/ signs are different from the United States as well as the customs and laws of the road. For your safety please do not rent a vehicle while you are in Innsbruck. |
