Ground Transportation to Innsbruck

If you are not flying directly into Innsbruck then you will need to arrange ground transportation. You can get to Innsbruck by: shuttle, train, bus and car.

NOTE: Round-trip transportation is provided for all students that purchased a ticket on the group flight offered by ITS Tours. If you are not on the group flight but would like to ride the bus to Innsbruck then please download the Airport Transfer Form under Forms / Downloads

SHUTTLE TRANSPORTATION

If you are flying into Munich then we recommend that you take a shuttle to Innsbruck.
Four Season's Shuttle service offeres a great transportion service from the Munich Airport to Innsbruck for the low price of €37 (about $45) for a one-way transfer. They have generoulsy offered a €5 discount off their standard fare of €42 for all students on The International Summer School.

You can make a reservation at their website:

http://www.airport-transfer.com/ or send them an e-mail at: office@airport-transfer.com

Please indicate in the Special Requests and Booking Code Field that you are part of The University of New Orleans student group in Innsbruck in order to receive the €5 discount.

TRAIN TRANSPORTATION

If you are not able to take a shuttle to Innsbruck from the Munich airport then you should consider taking a train. You will have to take a commuter train (S-Bahn) to the main train station which is located about 20 kilometers from the Munich airport at a cost of about €8. The S-Bahn will run usually every 30 minutes from the airport to Munich train station. Once you arrive at the Munich train station you will need to find a train to Innsbruck. Usually, there is a train to Innsbruck every 1 to 2 hours at a cost of about €25 to €35 for a one way ticket. The Innsbruck train station is a little too far to walk with 6 weeks of luggage so you will want to take a taxi to the student dormitory at a cost of about €6.50.

BUS TRANSPORTATION

An alternate choice is to take a bus to Innsbruck in much the same way you can take a Greyhound™ from Atlanta to New Orleans. This is not the best method of transportation or recommend by the Division of International Education at UNO. But if you would like to take a bus you can find the depot located near the main train station in Munich. The cost for taking a bus to Innsbruck is about €15 - €25. They may charge extra if you have a lot of luggage.

CAR TRANSPORTATION

We DO NOT recommend renting a car at all in Europe. It can be extremely dangerous driving in Europe. Traffic signals/ signs are different from the United States as well as the customs and laws of the road. For your safety please do not rent a vehicle while you are in Innsbruck.
