The university enjoys an excellent national and international reputation that is regularly reflected by excellent marks in national ranking surveys.

The BSEL mission emphasizes the integration of an international perspective in teaching and research, a strong orientation towards business practice and an integrative and interdisciplinary approach. As a specialized university for business and economics, it calls for a study concept that guarantees all students strong links to business and professional life. In close partnership with more than 480 companies (e.g. BMW, Daimler Chrysler, IBM, Ikea, Siemens) the BSEL runs 15 cooperative study programs that provide high-level practical experience in addition to the study courses. Clearly structured modular degree schemes allow the students to gain sound general business and economic expertise, complemented by sophisticated specialized education according to personal interests and skills. Thereby, every student can develop an individual profile of qualification.

The school’s international orientation is reflected in its study courses, several bi-national dual award programs with other European universities, in its more than 60 cooperation agreements with universities worldwide, but also in the two languages of instruction: German and English.

Three of the university’s eight Master programs are completely taught in English, and it is the second language of instruction in the other Master programs. A considerable number of courses are offered in English in several Bachelor programs as well. Every year the Berlin School of Economics welcomes a large number of exchange students. Participants from all over the world join the annual three- to four-week summer school.
