Comenius University in Bratislava is the oldest university in the Slovak Republic. It was founded on June 27th, 1919 and follows the university tradition of the Academia Istropolitana which was established in Bratislava by Matthias Corvinus, the Hungarian King, in 1467. More than 5,000 staff members teach 25,000 full-time students at 12 faculties, including Theology, Management, Physical Education and Sport, Pharmacy, Arts, Medicine, Mathematics and Physics, Education, Law, Natural Sciences, and Jewish Studies.

International students may take courses in any of these faculties, many of which offer courses in both Slovak and English. Students should verify if the courses in their area of interest are offered in English.

Note: Courses are taught in Slovak and English. The Comenius University offers an intensive Slovak course before each semester that is not part of the exchange, but students are allowed to attend of their own volition.
