Your internship in Dublin will be a truly unique experience – even within the same organization, working for the same supervisor, no two internships are alike. You are bringing your individual abilities, temperment, and weaknesses to the job. While we can’t predict exactly what your experience will be, we hope this guide will give you an idea of the types of organizations in Dublin, and what kinds of tasks interns can expect.

In general, all internships will involve administrative and “go-for” tasks in addition to exposure to more exciting and interesting projects. If you approach the less glamorous work with a cheerful attitude, and consistently express an interest in what is going on around you, you will find that your supervisors and coworkers will make an effort to give you better projects and include you in meetings and events.

While we make every effort to find an internship to closely match your request, sometimes these are unavailable or not possible for younger or less experienced students. If this is the case, your placement director will work with you to identify other types of internships which will give you the opportunity to develop similar skills. Reading this guide is the first step in educating yourself about the opportunities available in Dublin – but it is by no means comprehensive. We’ve included the main categories of internships – but we can always discuss more unusual choices (e.g. archaeology, artificial intelligence, etc).

Housing Information:
Students will live in Shanowen Square, a newly built apartment complex especially designed for student use. The fully furnished apartments consist of 3 to 5 single bedrooms with private bathrooms, a shared kitchen and living area, Internet connections and on-site laundry facilities. Located approximately three miles from the Dublin city centre, across from the campus of Dublin City University in the Glasnevin/ Santry neighborhood, Shanowen Square is well served by public transportation. Students will pay the housing provider a damage deposit of $425 which is fully refundable against damages. Students pay the housing provider directly in their choice of euro or dollars (all refunds will be in euro) and will be refunded at time of checkout less any charges for damage to the property. Once students have been accepted to the program, EUSA will send housing registration and payment details.
