Housing Information:

For linguistic and cultural reasons, students will benefit from home stays in Madrid in order to continue to improve language skills outside the office environment. These pre-screened families live all around the city, and Madrid's excellent public transportation system ensures the internship sites are normally not more than a 45-minute commutes from the home stays. Students are provided with their own key to the home and may come and go as they please, respecting the family's schedules. Students are provided with breakfast and dinner and are expected to eat lunch near the office. The family provides laundry service once a week and cleans the student's room. There is normally no Internet access from the home. Sheets and towels are provided.

The student may consider other housing options to provide a more independent living experience. Shared flats can be arranged with rental agencies where students may come and go as they please. Flats are located in central Madrid, easily accessible by bus and/or metro; and all flats are completely furnished with a common room and a fully equipped kitchen. Many have Internet access via wireless connection. Housemates are usually students in their last years of college or are pursuing graduate studies. Many of the housemates will be international students, from Europe and South America. The students are supplied with a weekly food stipend. Cooking and cleaning are up to the students, but cleaning of the common areas is included in their stay. Sheets and sometimes towels are provided. There is usually a deposit that the student must give at the start of his or her stay to cover any possible damages to the property. This deposit can range between 180 and 400 Euros, and will be returned to the student at the end of the program provided no harm has been done to the house.
