The History

For twenty years the UNO Writing Workshops Abroad have invited graduate, undergraduate, and non-degree seeking students from across the globe to attend a summer session of workshops, lectures, performances, and excursions in destinations such as Edinburgh, Prague, San Miguel, Madrid, Cork and Brunnenberg Castle. Past faculty and guests include Rick Barton, Eavan Boland, Joseph Boyden, Dr. John Gery, Mary de Rachewiltz, Kristen Iversen, Dinty Moore, James Ragan, M.O. Walsh, and Allen Wier.

The Program

The Writing Workshops Abroad presents courses in Creative Writing, Theatre, Literature, Film and Education. Participants completely immerse themselves in their coursework and extracurricular activities, inspired by their peers, faculty, and beautiful surroundings. Readings, lectures, and performances by participants and noted guest lecturers give participants a unique opportunity to share their work in a supportive forum and develop relationships with both peers and professionals.

Writing Workshops in Brunnenburg

The Writing Workshops Abroad presents a month-long program at Brunnenburg Castle in the lovely Italian Alps, where poets develop their creative work and study the literature of Ezra Pound in the gorgeous home where the influential Modernist spent his final years.

This program will not be offered in the summer of 2016. Please check back next year to learn about our 2017 program.

Join us this summer for an unforgettable month
