The History

For over twenty years the UNO Writing Workshops Abroad have invited graduate, undergraduate, and non-degree seeking students from across the globe to attend a summer session of workshops, lectures, performances, and excursions in destinations such as Edinburgh, Prague, San Miguel, Madrid, Cork and Brunnenburg Castle. Past faculty and guests include Rick Barton, Eavan Boland, Joseph Boyden, Dr. John Gery, Mary de Rachewiltz, Kristen Iversen, Dinty Moore, James Ragan, M.O. Walsh, and Allen Wier.

The Program

The Writing Workshops Abroad presents courses in Creative Writing, Theatre, Literature, Film and Education. Participants completely immerse themselves in their coursework and extracurricular activities, inspired by their peers, faculty, and beautiful surroundings. Readings, lectures, and performances by participants and noted guest lecturers give participants a unique opportunity to share their work in a supportive forum and develop relationships with both peers and professionals.
